Lar won the contest with 45% of the total vote, Second place was fellow Thurles man Padraic Maher with 37% of the vote
Lar had a fantastic 2009, He scored three goals against Limerick in the All Ireland Semi Final, He also won his first Allstar and was picked on the Opel GPA team of the year.
